REVIEW

With Focus 2012, Ford demonstrated that small cars do not feel so flat encouraging, with a charismatic small car, a more satisfying, more luxurious and better equipped

Small car surely doesn't mean 'economy car' anymore, and the new Focus seems to be the poster car for this idea. By stepping up to the SEL or Titanium trim and checking some option boxes, you can get items like the iPad-like MyFord Touch system with voice control, an Active Park Assist system, or a full-on Sport Package

  • Gone is the coupe for 2012, replaced by a more functional hatchback model.
  • No official fuel economy numbers have been released, but Ford is targeting 40-mpg on the highway.
  • 2012 Ford Focus will deliver a high-performance ST model with a 247-hp EcoBoost turbocharged 4-cylinder engine.

Pricing

Pricing of 2012 Ford Focus ranges from $16,270 to $22,270 for the sedan and $18,065 to $22,765 for the 5-door.

One other segment-exclusive feature that will be available in the Titanium is Active Park Assist—that's the system Ford has offered on several more expensive models that essentially allows the car to steer itself into a spot while you modulate the brake. In a city-savvy small car like the Focus—rather than one that's more likely to be valet-parked—it finally makes sense.
